Mint Office Inspiration

Written across my calendar this Saturday was, "Clean out guest room!" Since moving in nearly six months ago, the husband and I have tossed all of our miscellaneous wedding decor, rubbermaid bins, unfinished projects, and garage sale items in one room. Since our happy little rental is a historic bungalow, it doesn't exactly have a linen closet, pantry, or shelving (oh, those luxuries).

After relocating all of our garage sale stuff to the front room for this Saturday's big sale and filling three utility trash bags full of trash, we could see the guest room floor. Many hours of why do I still have this? later we had an (almost) empty guest room.

The next morning my husband woke up and said, "I want to design the guest room." I think he could finally see potential in the room. Fast forward three days and we have two coats down and one coat left of the most wonderful paint color you've ever seen (Sherwin Williams Sea Salt). Side note: I would have never thought we'd get as extreme as painting, but the husband said it was part of the whole design aesthetic and how could I work in a space with walls the color of dirty cement?

All of this to say, here's a little office inspiration on this Thursday morning.

Nautical

Chris and I have been trying to decide what to get each other for Christmas.
Chris, being the generous guy that he is, requested that I set aside most of the money I would spend on his gift to buy a cow for a family in need through World Vision.
He is pretty awesome like that.

I'm attempting to do a mostly handmade Christmas for my family.
I've usually been the one to end up at the mall at 6am on Christmas Eve to get that last minute gift, so DIY-ing is probably the best.
I'm proud to say I'm one project down.

Windy Nights

Grab a skirt and umbrella and head outside to Mary Poppins in the sky. The weather is blustery tonight.

I'm glad that Chris and I didn't buy chimes today...something about wind and chimes reminds me of the M. Night Shyamalan movie Signs.  Chills.

As a graphic designer, I'm always trying to use my design programs for everything. Lately, it's been interior design and home decor. I wish I was proficient in AutoCAD, but that's pretty far down on the to-learn list. Here I sit working on Christmas decor mock-ups right now.

Chris and I spent the afternoon at this place called The Barn. It's every tchotchke loving mom's paradise. Between the mantels filled with floral arrangements, vines, and vases of all sizes there are some good finds. Plus, they have a whole building dedicated to Christmas decor. Later, we hit up Hobby Lobby with all of their 50% off Christmas merchandise. I'm trying to hold off until next week to put it all up. I'm so excited to decorate our first place.

Hope you keep your feet on the ground this windy evening...

Pretty as Chalk

There's something about chalk's simplicity and innocence as it lends itself to a nostalgic part of grade school. With a shed full of milk glass, Chris and I have moved on to collect chalk boards. It doesn't take much money to create beautiful, delicate, personal touches with chalkboards.

Here's my inspiration:

Top: A beautiful custom chalk sign at a wedding reception in a deli.
Middle Left: I'm a sucker for anything with Peonies and these framed chalkboard table numbers are perfect.
Middle Right: How cute is this? A wedding word search. Fun, cute, and personalized.
Bottom: Another custom chalk wedding piece with a vintage flair. Love.

Chris and I bought a simple little chalk board for fifty cents at a garage sale. I painted the natural wood frame white with a few coats of acrylic paint. Then I bought a set of chalk markers online. I'm not super happy with the brightness of the pink (it's like neon Vegas sign fuchsia), so I may stick to the white to give it an authentic chalk feel.

Kitchen Ideas

Hey there!

Good news on the wedding planning forefront -- we have found our dream photographer and we're in the process of booking him/her! More details to follow once we've made it legit.

Right now Chris and I have been exploring color palettes for various rooms as we think about our registry. You all know I am obsessed with the seafoam/turquoise palette. So, this is a little style board I am working on for our kitchen.

If you have any ideas about where to register, let me know. We need to figure that out soon!

Yellow & Gray Styleboard

Chelsea is no longer updating 'Tis So Sweet, but you can find her on her new blog, Rosario Creative Co.

So, I am in the process of looking for a new apartment.
I am excited and set on this yellow + gray theme.
It's feminine meets masculine.
Happy. Like sunshine.
It includes a lot of geometric patterns paired with ruffles and natural textures.
Clean & homey.
